MM-29New York City: Jorge Vega Umana showed his Spring/Summer 2015 Runway Show during New York Fashion Week at the Altman Building, September 10th at 6PM. The invitation-only event featured live models showcasing the Spring/Summer 2015 Ready-to-Wear Women’s Collection of 24 pieces and 3 select looks from his debuting Vardama Men’s Collection. Special guest Marline Barberena, Miss Nicaragua, opened the show.

Celebrities lined the front row of the show. Guest in attendance included Countess LuAnn De Lesseps (RHONY), Miss Universe Gabriela Isler, Miss USA Nia Sanchez, Joya Dass (MSNBC), Gary Pine (Musician), Andy Hilfiger (brother of Tommy Hilfiger), Samrat Chakrabarti (The Leftovers), Pooja Kumar (Former Miss India, Man on a Ledge), Jay Dabhi (DJ), Purva Bedi (Actress) and Shenaz Treasurywala (Actress, Brown Nation).

The Jorge Vega Umana Spring/Summer 2015 Collection featured well-tailored sleek daytime pieces, feminine cocktail dresses, alongside alluring silhouettes for evening. Inspired by modern glamorous women around the globe, Jorge creates finely-crafted pieces that work from day to night. Couture touches were included in the designs with special prints featuring the national Nicaraguan flower – an overall Frangipani motif that creates light and movement.

Jorge Vega Umana’s design aesthetic is informed by global cultures, his love of travel and the female form with an emphasis on color, proportion and refinement. The stage for Spring/Summer was set by modern neutrals in a color palette of wheat, sage, sorbet and alabaster accented by touches of onyx and frangipani violet. The collection exuded elegance, femininity and chic sophistication. A portion of the proceeds of the Spring/Summer 2015 collection will be donated to ANF (American Nicaraguan Foundation) to aid impoverished Nicaraguan children and families.

Jorge Vega Umana is a Nicaragua born, New York based Fashion Designer. Jorge trained as a lawyer and worked in his country as legal counsel to help develop small businesses in Nicaragua. Born into a prominent family and growing up in Granada, Jorge was surrounded by stylish women who piqued his interest in fashion. To pursue his creative passion he moved to New York where he started his own business designing cocktail and evening dresses for private clients.
