New York, October 2018: Famed fashion designer Anita Dongre has debuted a collection of bespoke wedding gowns called One World which fuses Indian embroideries on a palette of white bridal gowns. Using luxury fabrics like silk and fine tulle, the collection features figure-flattering silhouettes embellished with textural beading, embroidery and lace in Indian motifs.
Speaking on her inspiration behind this collection, Anita says, “New York is a hub of diversity. Multicultural marriages, embracing all customs, are on the rise; a marriage today might be an amalgamation of a white wedding as well as a traditional Indian wedding. On the insistence of one such elegant bride, we stepped into the beautiful world of designing white gowns. And what a joy it has been to work with pristine whites. It’s a different world from the Indian reds and pinks, and enjoying the creativity and the space both provide is exhilarating. So, here we are, in the city of dreams, just in time for New York Bridal Week with a limited edition collection of 24 bespoke bridal gowns”.
Anita’s first New York flagship store also carries her range of Indian bridal gowns, formal wear, fine and costume Indian jewelry as well as her Grassroots label, a sustainable and eco-conscious luxury prêt label born of her commitment to revive, sustain and empower Indian crafts and textiles. For over a decade, Anita Dongre has been the go-to designer for Indian brides all over the world. Bridging India’s supreme craftsmanship with global luxury couture, her collections are made for the fashion forward bride of today who values the essence of slow handmade fashion.
Anita Dongre has been at the forefront of fashion for over 25 years, having created India’s largest fashion houses. Her brand is the most loved in India, and she is the only Indian designer who is Royalty and Bollywood’s favorite; having dressed Kate Middleton, Hillary Clinton, Sophie Trudeau, the Queen of Belgium as well as Priyanka Chopra.
