We’ve heard the buzz about Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ engagement and, we are obsessed with every possible detail that can come of this wedding, which will undoubtedly be attended by Hollywood and Bollywood glitterati and maybe even by their BFFs, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry! With all of the excitement in the air, we asked India-based wedding and image stylist Meha Bhargava of STYL-INC to report on what she believes this duo might wear down the aisle. Based on her expertise in all things South Asian wedding, here are looks Meha can see Priyanka and Nick wearing on their most special day.
For Priyanka: Bridal fashion for women in South Asian culture is elaborate, vibrant and luxurious. Although, saris and lehngas are the traditional choice, we think Priyanka may opt for something more fusion.
The Draped Sari
We’ve seen so many draped saris recently, but none quiet like this. This Manish Malhotra sari worn by Shilpa Shetty has a lot of different elements placed together and all balanced so beautifully. The pearl encrusted top, soothing color, belt and layered drapes all are perfect for any wedding function.
Pre-Draped
Pre-draped saris like these by Tarun Tahiliani – Elysium Collection offer a contemporary flavor to the traditional drape. The sari on the right has a pallu drape over an ankle length skirt with a shear embroidery blouse and the one worn by Sophie Choudry has pleats draped over cigarette pants with a gorgeous fish net embroidery blouse. Both the saris are a refreshing twist on the traditional.
The Cape Sari
This chiffon cape sari is all the elegance you need. It’s so simple, yet so extraordinary. The pleated cape sari worn by Sonam Kapoor is definitely a defining factor of the backless ensemble. Overall, this Gaurav Gupta piece is a stunner and a surreal outfit for wedding functions.
The Lehnga, and No, Not in Red
A lehnga is something every girl tries to incorporate during the wedding functions. These lehngas by Anita Dongre — Lakme Fashion Week 2018, are in lovely shades of pastels. The contrasting floral embroidery and the simple and elegant pattern of the blouse makes the colors look even prettier. A bridal lehnga stereotype is that it is supposed to be red or a dark shade of it, but just like we decide the color of our outfits based on the season, why not decide the color of your wedding lehnga like that. There is no doubt about the fact that red bridal lehngas look gorgeous, but spring / summer weddings deserve brighter hues.
For Nick: Bridal fashion for men has a lot more options that it did in the past. Today, grooms will find a variety of silhouettes and styles they can adopt for their wedding day. Here are four tradition-with-a-twist looks we think Nick could graciously don when he and Priyanka walk down the aisle.
Men in Black

Textured and Draped
Textured and draped clothes offer a certain look and depth within the fabric itself. Even if the style or silhouettes are basic, the texture adds grace and panache. These textured bandhgalas by Shantanu and Nikhil are on-trend and elegant, perfect for a modern day groom.
Check It Out
Checks and plaids are classic and, one pattern often preferred by Nick Jonas. However, we think Nick would add his twist on this traditional pattern by going for less monotone checks and instead, adding something different like contrasting color from the base color. These Gaurav Gupta lines will look bright and mesmerizing on the base color and will make the classic look even more noteworthy.
Prints and Brocades
Prints and brocades are always a good idea. For a man who does not like the feel of thick, textured embroideries, but like the all over visual effect of it, then prints and brocades are their perfect alternative.
